)June In Rearview(

Hola!

Finally freed from the clutches of mid-term examinations, I have returned to recount all that have gone glimmering through the days of things that were this June...............

June being the sixth month of the year has always held my nose too close to the grindstone, and this year, I think June has managed to graze the topmost layer of my skin!

The beginning of June marked my successful completion of one year of working in the big man's world, under a big man; to teach content-based language courses to big men (Professionals of BRAC). HOORAY!

However, before I could finish patting myself on the back, my back was bogged down by 6 extra hours of classes per week, in addition to my weekly twelve hours, because the boss's daughter, who also happens to be my colleague went away on an untimely vacation for a month and a half. And if you still are of the opinion that slavery has been abolished, you need to think again!

With extra hours that kept (and are still keeping) me on the run and midterms that hovered over my head much like the blade of a guillotine, I remained cranky throughout the month. I think Tanzil would be able to give a better illustration of my crankiness if you asked him. But don't ask him. Don't remind him of what's dead and decomposing in its grave... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..

Okay, I think its time I steered this post out of dangerous waters...

Amid all the running, studying and bickering, June did bring me some remarkable days. First of them being the one on which Tanzil and I went out to dine with his cousin Mumu and discovered the magic of espresso croquant. SLURP! I have already written about this evening; if you will look at my older posts, you will find it's my first post of the month of June :)

The other happy day was a friday when Tanzil and I treated his kid brother Fahad and his girlfriend to a Chinese lunch. It was supposed to be a quick lunch, but when in jovial company, who wants to depart early! Thus, from Cheong Ching we went to Movenpick where Fahad's GF's younger sister and one of Fahad's best friends joined us. All of us then with the best of Movenpick's flavours melting in our mouths, decided to go for a boat ride down the Gulshan-1 lake (my first one in that lake).

After reaching Gulshan-1 lake and seeing that I would have to walk (if I could, otherwise roll) down a steep slope to get to the boats, which didn't look too inviting (they were old and broken), I thought of chickening out of it altogether. In the end, overcoming the chicken within me, I decided to go for it.

With Tanzil guiding my steps I went down the slope and on board the boat. When the boat started its short journey to the other end of the lake and the fear of falling into the water had disappeared from my mind, I began giggling and flapping my arms in excitement! The sultry afternoon wind in my hair, the mild sun shining in my eyes and the sound that the water made with every touch of the oar made the boat ride an exuberant experience for me. Then, like all good things the boat ride came to and end and we had to turn back.

Eight days after the boat ride (which I have plans to go back for soon), I met a couple of my high school girlfriends for lunch. A lunch sounds rather regular, but this particular one was very special and much awaited for the fact that I was meeting two of these best friends of mine after ten long years!

To explain why I was meeting them after such a long time would require a new post entirely. All that can be said is time had sent us rushing in different directions, but what is of importance now is the fact that we found our way back to one another. Not only did we find our way back to one another, we were also amused to discover that we, even after so many missed years, can still read each others' mind. I guess old friends always pick up from where they had left, regardless of how many and what kind of years have passed in between. And they don't ask any questions either.

Hence with that and a few other things such as the death of MJ, the unusual heat of the summer sun and my midterms bringing up the rear, another June has passed by, never to return. No matter how hectic and hot, the June of '09 came and made memories worth preserving. This June has also left me wondering what changes time will bring till the next June......................I am wondering..wondering and waiting..

So long~
